* Original Title: linksys ae2500 passed compatibility but does not install properly

I cant seem to find a windows 8 driver for my linksys ae2500 network adapter.  The devices passed the compatibility test pre-install.  Windows 8 sees it but says it was not install properly.  Any suggestions?  Anyone else having this problem

For windows 10 I downloaded all version of the driver from the cisco website on to a USB flash drive. i then updated the driver and selected the folder for the USB drive and the Ver.5.100.68.46 installed which according to cisco's website is for windows xp.

Worked for me using the stand-alone AE2500 install downloaded from Linksys.  After download right click the install EXE, check compatible windows 7 and "run as administrator", then click OK.  Then double-click the EXE.  After the drivers install and it connects to your wireless network the program does crash, but everything works.   Successful in Windows 8 and Windows 10.  All sorts of false info out there.

Let’s try these steps and check if it helps.

Download and install Windows 7 compatible drivers in compatibility mode and check.

    a) Press Windows Key + R, type devmgmt.msc.

    b) Expand the Network adapters, click on the drivers.

    c) Click on properties, click on uninstall tab.

    d) Click OK.

    e) Right-click on the driver (Downloaded from the manufacturer’s website) file.

    f) Click on Properties and select the Compatibility tab.

    g) Click the checkbox before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows 7.

    h) In the list-down box; then try installing the device driver via Run as administrator.
