problem creating a zip file to email

I am trying to email a zip file.  I go to my document, I right click on it, then select "compress and email".  I then get the a box, which I see my file name with the .7z extension.  I then select "OK".  Then I get a message:  "There is no email program associated with this task".

I then go to my PC settings, go to default programs, I set Windows Live Mail as my default.  I then go to set associations and see the .7z extension, the default program is 7-zip file manager.   I also see ".zfsendtotarget"  Compressed folder send to target, and the program is set to unknown.  If I select "change program" it tells me "you are attempting to open a file of Type System File, drag files to compress them".

How do I change set my defaults so that I can email my zip files?

thanks!
