Recovering Windows 7 Professional and OS drivers
I have had a system crash due to power failure while away from home and now I am unable to reboot / restore / repair my computer. I have searched this Community and other online help forums for an answer to my problem with no success.
I have booted up with the OS Install DVD and selected "Repair my Computer". The US keyboard input is selected and on Next I reach the System Recovery Options window with no Operating System info populated. Following the instructions I select Load Drivers and receive "Insert the installation media for the device and click OK to select the driver". I assume this is the OS Install DVD I booted up with ???
Clicking on OK opens a new window that allows me to Browse my computer tree. The Browse window opens in Boot(X:)/Windows/System 32.
My questions is ..... what is the name of the driver it is looking for and what folder do I find it in ?
I think it is looking for the hard drive drivers .... but I do not know what I am looking for or where.
Hope there is someone out there who can help ...... I am getting pretty frustrated with this.
Thanks
DaddyBritman

I suggest you to deploy the installation media and see if the following suggestion helps to check if any how the boot manager is damaged/missing which can be repaired.
Create Windows 7 ISO from:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home
Try using the following command lines to rebuild the BCD store and see if it helps.
CMD> bootrec /scanos

2015-12-30T13:34:08+00:00 Thank you for getting back to me Ruth.
Yes I have the Windows 7 installation disk.
I have tried to boot up and repair my computer with the disc in the CD/DVR drive, but without success.
I guess I need step by step instructions.
I follow instructions well !!!
Thanks

2015-12-30T12:18:57+00:00 Hi,
Thank you for the response.
You get BootMgr missing after making partition changes or after restoring the Windows partition. The files necessary to boot Windows were not found on the partition booted. These files include the bootmgr file and the \Boot folder (which contains the BCD file).
Do you have a Windows 7 installation disc with you?
Please reply with the required information, we will be glad to help you further.
Thank you.

I now receive the warning message that BOOTMGR can't be found.
I do not wish to convert to Windows 10.
I can access the Command Prompt window.
It opens with X:\Windows\System32>
Can you provide me with the appropriate command lines to try and rebuild / recover the BOOTMGR.
Are these command entries made from X:\Windows\System 32 ???
Thanks
Jak
