I have a new Arc Keyboard and Mouse running on a new installation of Windows 8.1 with all the updates installed. Every now and then the keyboard just stops responding and I need to take the batteries out and back in to 'kick start' it again. I've changed the batteries and get the same result. Tried different USB Ports inc USB3 port but get the same results.

    Hello Mark,

Based on my research issues with a Wireless Keyboard and mouse not responding randomly could occur if one or more of the following condition are true:

    • The batteries that you are using are rechargeable.
    • The batteries that you are using are low in power.
    • The receiver is plugged into a port that is not working.
    • The wireless device that you are using has trouble synchronizing with the receiver. There may be interference from other wireless devices.
    • The color of the wireless pointing device pad is preventing the wireless pointing device from suspending itself.
    • There may be a connection problem in the battery compartment or on the recharge base.

To troubleshoot this issue, I would request you to try the steps provided in the article below.

Your wireless mouse or keyboard does not respond or you receive a “The wireless <device name> signal quality is low” error message

If the steps provided in the link does not help, you can also try the Methods provided in the link below to troubleshoot the issue.

I have exactly the same issue.  Popping out the batteries does 'fix' it.  This isn't a solution.  I have one ARC at work and one at home.  They are both having this issue.  I have had three replacement keyboards.  All have the same issue.  I have upgraded PC's from W7 to W10 and still have the same issue.  This is a HARDWARE on the ARC keyboard.  This issue is not your home computer, not your usb dongle, not your OS.  Microsoft need to accept responsibility and either fix this or replace the keyboard.

When you put the batteries after a 'reboot' of the keyboard, listen carefully to the keyboard, you get a set of high pitched tones.  I assume this is part of the 'reboot' process.

A 'reboot' of the keyboard isn't acceptable.  Fix it Microsoft.

I had the same problem and the only thing that works is removing batteries... Frustrating.

Same issue.  Brand new ARC keyboard.  First day with it.  After 6 hours, the keyboard stopped responding.   I took the batteries out.  Put the same ones back in and the keyboard works again.

I experience a similar problem with my 2-week-new 1392 Arc keyboard -- brand new batteries, followed all troubleshooting steps, etc.  I'm on win8 connected to a year-old Dell laptop.   Signal quality is fine, so the problem isn't bluetooth. It's the keyboard itself.

The keyboard shuts off in the midst of using it, and the only thing that will restart it is removing the batteries and putting them back in. Difficult while I'm on a call trying to type and talk.
