I am the statesboro computer doctor i work on many machines i always let windows updates complete first. But iobits driver booster 3 has been able to find drivers especially the graphics accelerators that windows update doesent find.

I always uninstall it and run malwarebytes for safety.  So far iobit has never left malware on the machines.

Stay away from the other stuff if offers to install

And dont do the free upgrade.

Since i specialise in virus and malware removal i would be the last person to say use it if really needed to find a hard to find driver.

I would have to say in conclusion iobit seems to be trying hard to establish a good reputation and they are certainly impressing me.

ASUS, Tosihba, etc. are computer manufacturers and indeed do have driver update tools, I did reference that in my first reply.

As Bruce indicated, it's best to go to the manufacturer of the hardware/firmware or the computerfor updating drivers. That being said, general rule of thumb is "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it."

Iobit is not a computer manufacturer, they are a third-partysoftware vendor which means they would not necessarily be providing manufacturers recommended or approved drivers. Since you are aware that the computer manufacturers provide these tools, why would you even consider using a third-party

What I am unsure of is if you understand what reformatting and reinstalling the operating system entails. I only mentioned the last machine I worked on which someone had tried Driver Booster. I've seen more than enough computers that were rendered useless with these type of programs and based on some of their unethical history  Iobit products in general I would consider unsafe for the average home user.

If you click on the date in the results of the scan for the driver, it shows the version and the publisher of the driver.  They appear to come from the manufacturer.

I mean for this to be my own comment, but I see absolutely no option anywhere besides replying to someones comment...bravo microsoft...

Anyways, Ive been using Driver Booster for a year now and it has done me good. I never knew anything about downloading drivers and installing them, so having to do that over 30 times when I can hardly tell what im looking at...yea right!

Ive read plenty enough of skeptical views but nothing set in stone telling me "hey this program is bad". Its great, it works fine. The only complaint I have is that it likes to exaggerate how outdated a driver is.

I guess you would have to ask them. There is nothing in the FAQs about where the drivers come from. Personally, I can't really see a need for it.
