My wireless Keyboard and Mouse will not work on any USB port, except the one on the front (And I need the front port for my game controller)

Okay, so I have a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, which are detected by a wired adaptor I have to put in my USB ports. But you see, my mouse and my keyboard wont work unless I put them on the front USB port, which I need for my gaming controller. If I connect the adaptor in the USB ports in the back of the PC, my keyboard and my mouse wont work, BUT strangely, my adaptor still detects them (theres a light on it to show if a key is pressed, or the mouse is moved, etc),but nothing happens on-screen. And before I booted up my computer today, my keyboard and mouse were working when the adaptor was plugged in the back of the PC. How do I make it so that it works again when I plug the adaptor in the back? Also, to remind you, I need the front USB port for my gaming controller, so that's why I dont want to plug my adapter here.

Thanks.

    Hello Vaxen,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I appreciate your efforts towards resolving the issue. I will certainly help you with the issue that you are facing.

Any wireless Mouse and Keyboard that is connected to the PC via the USB dongle that comes with them, requires the keyboard and mouse to be in range to the dongle. When you plug in the dongle at the back of your PC, the keyboard and mouse might not get proper signals to the dingle or might not be in proper range.

To diagnose this issue further, I would suggest you to try the following.

If possible, try to turn the tower around in a way that the keyboard and mouse is in the straight range, just as it is when you connect the dongle to the front USB port. If it detects it and works fine, you might have to buy a USB extender cable or device. It will connect to the back port and extend it to be connected in the front.

Do let us know the results. If the issue persists, we can work on the software part and check where the issue is.

    Hope this information helps.
