There is a problem with this Windows Installer package Error 1722

Original Title: Error 1722

Greetings.

As many users on this forum, I have problems on windows 8.1 with error 1722.

After error appears, I cancel installation (no other choice) and go to Temp folder.

I found following error:

Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action CustomAction_CopyResources, location: C:\Program Files\Optris GmbH\PI Connect\ImgInst.exe, command: /CopyResources "D:"

It looks like I dont have some permissions to copy some files. I have administrator rights, I have tried compatibility mode with windows 7, I ran installation as Administrator.

The software is Optris PI Connect for IR camera.

The interesting part is, that it works with windows 7 and it works with some computers even on windows 8.1 without any error during installation - but not with computers I want to work on :)

My operation system is Windows 8.1

I think I found a solution. I tried running ImgInst.exe manually and it said it needs .NET Framework v3.5 (even though v4.5 is installed). I installed the version 3.5 and now PI Connect installs without problems.

    Greetings.

Sadly, none of this solutions solved my problem.

The last few days, we were working with our administrator on this problem.

So, the error occured on first computer. I had administrator rights, computer had clear OS install, only office and some National Instruments software was added.

I thought this was the problem of the computer. In time the computer did not work, I recieved laptop, which was placed instead my first computer. It also had clean OS install (both had windows 8.1 Enterprise) and to my surprise, none of errors appeared. Installation was made the first time without any error and works now for 14 days.

So, because the laptop is just a temporary replacement, I recieved another computer, desktop, which has same error. Even more, my administrator tried loading clear OS on it and first thing to do, to install this software (so the system would not corrupt before). The error was the same.

Of course if this will not work, we will load windows 7 on computer. I am just wondering, if it doesnt work, it shuoldnt have worked on any computer -> on laptop it seems it works. And of course, if you have any idea left, you are welcome to suggest and I will try.

    Greetings

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You may want to enable hidden build-in admin account and check the status.

Press Windows key + R and type control userpasswords2and click OK

Select the user name and click Properties

    Click on Group Membership

Make sure Administrator option is selected

Also, click the option Other and select Administratorfrom dropdown

    Click Apply and then OK

    Restart the computer and check

If the issue still persists, enable the hidden Admin account and check.

Press Windows key + X and click Command Prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press Enter

    net user Administrator /active:yes

To exit Command Prompt, type Exit and press Enter or simple click X on top right of the same window.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to run the System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Press Windows key + X and click Command Prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press Enter

    sfc /scannow

Note: Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.
