A serial number is a unique, identifying number or group of numbers and letters assigned to an individual piece of hardware or software.
Internal computer components, like hard drives, optical drives and motherboards, also contain serial numbers.
Serial numbers are used by hardware manufacturers to track individual items, usually for quality control.
I would suggest you to follow these steps to find serial number and check if it helps.
a. Type cmd in the start search box.
b. Right click cmd in search results and click run as administrator.
c. Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.
wmic bios get serialnumber
Note: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
