Not able to connect to Internet Error Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection adapter is experiencing driver-or-hardware - related problem.

When I run the Troubleshoot Problems in the Network control panel, to check for the internet connection problem, the message I get is:

Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection adapter is experiencing driver-or-hardware - related problem.

Also, in the Device Manager, below the Network Adapters one of the entry is:

Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network connection.

I do not know if the above entry should be 82579LM.

When I right click the 82579V entry and then click Update driver software, the message I get is:

Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date

If I restart the system, the network connectivity problem gets resolved, but the problem is recurring.

Please help resolve this problem.  Thanks.

I had this problem to live with, ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 in July 2015.

Today I could successfully resolve the problem by the following steps:

    1. Uninstalled the exiting driver through Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection > click > Driver tab > Uninstall.
    2. Latest Installer File downloaded from:

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/47549/Intel-82579-Gigabit-Ethernet-Controller

    1. Installed the Ethernet Driver by running the downloaded executable.
    2. Additional Patch installation required to resolve Error Condition:

    82579VSKU.exe Version 1.2.2

Tool to update the NVRAM for the Intel® 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22026/NVM-Update-Utility-for-Intel-82579V-Gigabit-Ethernet-PHY-Network-Connection

Patch description, download and the installation method is provided in the above mentioned link.

    Note:

    1. This patch is applicable for the 82579V driver and NOT if your actual device driver is 82579LM.

    2. The patch will be installable at the instance when the adapter 82579V is reported correctly and without any error in the Device Manager after a fresh boot of the system.

    3. It may be required to run the command prompt from the location %windir%\system32\cmd.exe; select and right click and then choose Run as administrator.

I also tried this, using the newest Windows 8.1  - 64-bit driver (as of 5/1/14) for the 82579LM Ethernet port on my Intel DZ77SL-50 motherboard. On the General tab for this device in the device driver, the Device status shows as:

"The device cannot start. (Code 10)

        This device does not exist."

When I hit the "Scan for hardware changes", this box says, "This device is working properly." from within the Device status box. However, it still doesn't work. The driver version is showing as 12.6.47.1, dated 3/28/13.

A minute later, the Device status box reads,

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

The Ethernet cable I am using, when connected to another computer, works fine.

I have no idea why this device seems so screwed up. Before using Windows 8.1, it worked fine.

I found a solution for my Windows 10 Creators.

All you have to do is uninstall the network intel(r) 82579LM in your Device Manager, after that windows will automatically reinstall your network driver with the newest.

    Hope this help
