Unable to send with Gmail, error: 'The message could not be sent. A problem has occurred'

I've been having issues with WLM since December.  I have a gmail account and run on Windows 8.1.  I've been a part of other threads.  I've tried some of the posted solutions, but have not resolved my issue.

I can receive emails.  Some messages will send, but not if they have attachments.

I don't get an error.  I get a message that says, "The message could not be sent.  A problem has occurred.  Try again. "

    Split from this thread.

Could you please conform the above provide details:

    1. Are you accessing your Email account through Windows Live Mail?
    2. Are you facing this issue with a particular Email account?
    3. What type of Email account are you using? Is it Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail, or any other domain account?

Meanwhile, I suggest you to access you Email account through a web browser and check if you are able to send the Emails.

    1. I prefer to access my emails through Windows Live Mail.  I can receive, but not send.
    2. It is a problem with all email accounts.
    3.  Gmail account.

    (Windows 8.1 user)

I've been using the mail app while waiting for the Live Mail problem to be resolved, but I much prefer Live Mail for my business.

I can't find my original thread.  I have a gmail account on Windows Live Mail 2012 and Windows 8.1.  Here are the issues:

I can't send emails.  I don't get an error code; just "unable to send."

I can receive, but WLM is not saving anything beyond about 24 hours.  (Hence, I can't find the right thread.)

I've done all the fixes I've seen in the community except uninstalling/reinstalling Live Mail.  The comments indicated that it didn't work.

    Still having this issue.

Which issue? You haven't yet told us. This thread concerns a problem with sending messages using an AT&T, yet you say you have a problem with a Gmail account. Every mail server has its idiosyncrasies, so it can't be the same issue.

Please remove any unsent messages from the outbox (below the account folders in the folder pane), then compose a new test message with a unique subject and send it to yourself (from Gmail to Gmail). Post the error messages in your reply. You can click on an error message to select it, then use right-click to copy it and paste it into the text entry box.
