Original title: Press F1 to continue

I wiped the hard drive and reloaded a clean boot of Windows 7. I believe I have only 1 partition. Now when I start computer, a black boot screen comes up saying I must press F1 or F2 to continue. After pressing F1 all is well, and it goes to Windows. All boot options are the same as before. How do I eliminate this step where Windows loads automatically upon start up? Nothing wrong with battery.

The exact screen states the Bios version, Copyrights of computer, and the following:

"Diskette drive 0 seek failure

 Primary drive 1 not found

Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility"

As stated, after striking F1, the computer starts up Windows 7 just fine.

    Hi,

    Thanks for contacting Microsoft Community.

From the issue description I understand that you are getting prompt to press F1 or F2 at startup. Correct me if I am wrong.

I suggest you to disable the warning in your BIOS menu.

When you turn on your computer, there should be a prompt for F12 to access your BIOS menu or something similar.

Do so and you'll be taken to the BIOS menu naturally.

On your main menu, there should be a choice called, 'HALT ON'. Use the arrow keys to get down to it and press the Enter key to see the choices.

Choose 'No Error' and then press the button that is mapped to Save and Exit (there's usually a legend at the bottom for what keys do what)

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anusha

I appreciate your time and efforts. Your directive is not applicable. When I press F12 upon startup, it goes to the following black screen:

    BOOT DEVICE MENU

     1. Normal

     2. Primary Master Drive

     3. Hard-Disk Drive C;

     4. IDE CD-ROM Device

     5. System Setup

     6. IDE Drive Diagnostics

     7. Boot to Utility Partition

    ENTER A CHOICE: _

Your further suggestions would be extremely helpful.

I played around, and discovered after going to the BOOT DEVICE MENU, and choosing option 5. System Setup (same as entering F2 at startup), I turned off the HOT KEYS showing F2 and F12. This did eliminate the necessity of pressing F1 or F2 at startup; however, the black screen listing the Bios Version and dates of copyrights for Dell still come up. The good part  is, the computer does continue on its own and loads Windows without pressing anything. So... minor victory.
