"Recent places" seems to have disappeared from Windows 7 - help!

Until very recently, when I opened Windows Explorer there was a "Recent places" link under "Favorites".  If I clicked it, I got a long list of folders from which I had recently opened items.  Suddenly this has disappeared.  I've been searching help files, and Google - found the Users[username]\Recent folder - but that is not what I'm talking about.

Is it possible to get this back?  Pretty please?  It was TREMENDOUSLY useful to me!

    You're welcome, Martha.

Recent places and Recent items are more or less the same.

The **hidden system folder** Recent Items is located at:

    C:\Users(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items

    OR

    %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items

Yup, thanks, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/c49799c5-22c7-46ef-8cff-777559e640a3Jsssssssss - worked like a charm!  That must mean it was hiding somewhere all the time....is it possible for a mere mortal to know WHERE?

I should also report that, after I posted this last night, I found that somehow I had managed to add the "Recent Items" folder I mentioned above - and it looked as if it was doing a fair job of pretty much the same thing, only it needed to be populated, seemed to be starting from scratch, not sure why.  (I did notice that about the same time I noticed it missing, I found a mysterious shortcut for it on my desktop but it seemed to be empty - maybe I had accidentally dragged it off the Windows Explorer menu onto the Desktop, and that's why it disappeared???
