    Hello Claudia,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I would like to inform you that Windows 10 have an in-built Anti-virus security program known as Windows Defender which helps your System to get protection from virus and malware. If you wish then you can disable the Intel Security program. Having many programs will cause your system boot up process very slow.

For reference: What is Windows Defender?

Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.

Does Microsoft even read the questions before commenting? Who are they hiring to answer these questions? Intel Security Assist is not an antivirus or anti malware program. Why even give advice if you have no idea what you are talking about? It makes me sick... Intel Security Assist is part of the Intel Active Management Technology.  This is a tool that is used on an enterprise environment when the IT department wants to make deployments. If you use a tech company for computer maintenance or are in anyway computer literate, get rid of the program. This program is not necessary for your system to run efficiently. I am sorry that Windows allow people with no more then an elementary school education answer technical questions instead of hiring professionals. I don't care how old the post is, this will be seen for years and people deserve to hear an intelligent answer that is factual. This is why I use Linux most the times these days. I have lost a lot of faith in Microsoft.

Anti-virus? Malware? Microsoft should really fire this guy, or in fact all support "engineers".

Like the other guy have said, this is part of Intel management engine; and no, you won't get BSOD from disabling it.

In fact, you may even uninstall the whole Intel ME, unless you are in some really mega cooperation that has hardware based remote control.

Unfortunately it is a "war" between the technocrats who write code and make hardware and those who buy it. I bought four Lenovo laptops two 100S and two 110S and they are heavy and built like tanks. I do not expect high performance from these "toys". I just want to type letters because I bitch alot. Long ago I bought into the whole virus protection racket. I went out and bought a piss yellow norton symantec box and installed it. I was surfing the net and I got a pop up from symantec stating that they allowed a virus into my computer and there was nothing they could do about it. They gave me the name of the virus and it was wrong. They told me how to delete the virus from my computer and they were wrong. I ended up reinstalling Windows 7 Pro. I deleted symantec and wrote them a letter and I got no response.  Intel, Yahoo, Google, YouTube and all the players in the internet software and computer hardware game want to know which sites you visit so they can "data mine". They use that information for god knows what but they add more work for your computer and they are watching you. The Intel corporation has gone from making central processing units (CPU) to motherboards. Now they are data mining. I am going to delete the Intel out of my four Lenovo. And all other useless crap. Go to "msconfig" and see what is running while your computer is on.  Go to %temp% and see what is stored in there. I delete what I can in TEMP. I delete files in Internet Options. If you ever begin to lose control of your computer and you do not have vital information running, PULL THE MODEM CABLE TO YOUR COMPUTER.
