Screen Resolution - Font too small when resolution set at 1920x1080

original title: Screen Resolution

Got a new laptop that has 1920 x 1080 screen resolution which I paid extra for.  However when I keep this setting the text/font size on any web site is so small that it is very hard to read.  I've tried all the font size plugins but that didn't help.  The only way I can get readable (for me) text is to reduce the resolution to 1360 x 768 which totally defeats the purpose of getting a high resolution screen.  Is there any other way other than adjusting the screen resolution such that it can be max'ed out and yet provide readable text?  I don't want fixes like the magnifier or similar devices.

When you increase the screen resolution, things are smaller. Fundamentally the only way to get things bigger again at higher resolutions is to have a bigger screen. Magnifier, zooms and increasing font sizes just allow you to tweak around the edges of what kit you have to make the best compromise.

I use 1920x1080 and I have my text size set to 125% (and IE9 zoom=200%), but I have a 24" monitor which is much bigger than a laptop screen.

It is ridiculous that Windows cannot handle this.

It is quite RIDICULOUS that after more than 20 years of Windows that the underlying system fonts cannot be scaled to take account of very high resolution monitors,

I have a 4K display and the fonts are so tiny in command windows they are effectively unreadable. This also applies to system dialog boxes.

    MICROSOFT! FIX THIS PRONTO!

I have a Samsung Tab S and it has great resolution.  If I do a zoom using two fingers everything is readable.  Why can't the same be done with a setting in Windows?  If I can expand on a tablet then you should be able to automatically expand on a screen.  I like the other post paid extra dollars for a high resolution screen that I can't use.  By the way I have a 23 inch screen.  I did the settings you suggested but it still is no way near what I have on my tablet.  MS needs to get together with the PC manufacturers to work out a solution for this issue as right now the customer is losing.

I realized that this was the case.  There needs to be software in place that recognizes the screen resolution and then make the appropriate adjustments in the font sizes.  Thanks for your response.
