microsoft lifechat lx-6000 headset driver missing

I just purchased a LifeChat LX-6000 headset and can't get it running. Windows can't locate a driver for the device after plugging it in via USB. There in no software available on the Microsoft downloads page, http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/lifechat-lx-6000.

Reviews seem to indicate that the device should "just work" with Windows without having to install any separate software.

What am I doing wrong here? Is there an alternate download location for the driver?

thanks!

I've had the same problem with this headset. I've gone through all the "tips" listed; NOTHING works! I've removed the device (settings>>> devices >>> "remove device") that didn't work. I'm running Windows 10. The product description didn't say anything about the LX-6000 not being compatible with Win 10.

    What can we do?

Well I was having the same issue, but I discovered the fix... So to sum it all up:

    1. go here: https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/business/lifechat-lx-6000-for-business/7xf-00001
    2. Download the "LifeChat 6000 firmware update tool"
    3. run the program made by Microsoft to update your headset's firmware
    4. Rejoice because your headset is now finally working! =D

AND.... nothing is happening. It seems Microsoft doesn't care.   :-(   I simply can't believe that it's more difficult than Microsoft putting a darn fix driver on the support page for this headset

    1) Did you try using the headset with a different computer?

Yes, it works fine, with no extra driver installation required.

2)Did you try using the headset with different USB port?

    Yes, with the same result.

    1. What happens, when you connect the microsoft lifechat lx-6000 headset to the computer?

I get the error message "Device driver software was not successfully installed." When I click to search online for driver software, nothing is found. The headset, due to the missing driver, does not function properly.

    1. Do you get any error message?

    See #3.

Additionally, neither method worked to fix the problem. It's looking like the system in question is missing the appropriate driver for some reason, and no driver is available for download from the Microsoft website.
