Logitech mk320 Wireless Mouse and Keyboard not working

Good day,

I would really appreciate some assistance with some problems I've been having with my HP Pavilion PC.

About 2 years ago I started using the Logitech mk320 keyboard and mouse which have given no problems until 2 weeks ago.

When I turn the computer on, the keyboard and mouse work for about 5 minutes and then stops abruptly. When I turn it off and put it back on, the same thing happens. On safe mode, they both work normally. I've changed batteries, I've gone to control panel and tried to update the driver but an error pops up stating 'Unspecified error'. I also tried a Microsoft wireless mouse that also stopped working 5 minutes after I turned the computer on. I really really need this functioning as soon as possible because I'm a student. Please help!

Thank You,

Vearda

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

I suggest you to perform clean boot and check, using this Microsoft Article because may be a third party application is causing this issue.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

**NOTE:**A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot. You must log on to the computer as an administrator to be able to perform a clean boot. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality when you perform a clean boot. When you start the computer normally, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or experience the original behavior if the problem still exists. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps.

    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Once you perform clean boot do refer to the section “How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting” to boot the computer in normal mode.

I would suggest you to perform a SFC Scan and check if it helps.

Refer to the following link given below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

Note: While performing SFC Scan I would recommend you to make sure that there are no applications or programs running on the back ground.

Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other assistance with Windows in future. We will be happy to assist you.

    Hello Jayant,

    Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, when I tried following the guidelines in the link you sent me, the following messages came up and then the mouse I was using in the set up (Wireless Microsoft) stopped working abruptly (it took a little more than 5 minutes to do so).

The logitech unifying software indicated that no unifying receiver was plugged into the computer (even though it was).

The driver software installation indicated that the USB Composite Device and the USB input device were ready to use, However, for the USB receiver, it was still searching Windows for an update when everything just froze up.

Last month I did a system reset to factory settings and downloaded a new antivirus (Bitdefender). Would these in any way be causing the problems I'm having?

I don't think its an issue with the mouse or keyboard because when I plug them into my sister's laptop, everything works normal. Also, the Microsoft wireless mouse I was using is working normal with the laptop, but when I plug it into the PC, it stops working just like the other one. Thank you for your assistance.

    Vearda
