    @Nancy,

    In case you're using Internet Explorer or Google Chromeor Firefox for playing those games, then do like this. When you start playing the game on any of the above browsers, you will start listening the sound of that game. At that point of time, go to System tray, right click on Speaker Icon and select Open Volume Mixer. There try to mute only the browser speaker, on which the game is running.

    Now go and play the Music using any of the Player to see if it works.

    @Nancy,

    You mean to say, playing games from http://games.aarp.org website?

    Else offline games downloaded from official website?

    I am not able at all to mute the games I am playing. They are the AARP games. There is NO button or drop down list to mute them. What do I do? Give up the games to listen to the music or play the games and forget about the music? Hard choice!!! Thank you!!!

    Hello Nancy,

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

    We understand the inconvenience you have experienced.

    Which games are you referring to?

    Are you referring to Windows Store games?

    Are you concerned about online games?

    It depends on the Game which you're trying to play. Mostly, it should provide an option to mute the sound while playing it. If it doesn't, then it will override system sound or Music, which you're trying to run on background while playing the game.

    Cross check with the game options to see if you're able to kill sound while playing it. So that you're able to play music on background without any issues.

    Keep us posted if you require further assistance.
