Is is possible to upgrade from Windows 2000 to a more current Windows 7,8,10? If so, valued advice is greatly appreciated.

You might be able to find Windows 2000 for sale on the web somewhere.  IIRC, 2000 was the last Windows version that didn't require activation.  You will need to be very careful of anything you find available on the web, and you will also be at risk if you use the internet with it, as support ended in 2010.  The same goes for XP.   There's a chance that you could get Vista to run on that PC, which would be the safest alternative.

There is no free/discounted upgrade option, you need to buy a new license.

If you have a computer that supports Windows 2000, it's  pretty much impossible it supports 8/10 as well (10+ years apart), with Vista/7 there is a slim chance. What kind of computer (maker, model) is it ?

I don't think a direct upgrade is possible, so you will have to try do 2000 -> XP maybe -> Vista -> 7.

That is so messy and will take so long. You will also lose all ur data so there isn't really a point.

    Hi S.Servus,

Thanks for the reply & advice.

I purchased the Compaq PC in 2000 as new in the US. If I am correct in your advice, can I purchase a new license for Windows 2000? Which at the time came reloaded with Windows 2000 pro, an upgrade of Windows 98.

    Regards,

    Garland
