No internet connection when I go to youtube

Hi,

I'm having this problem for the past few months. It started randomly but now I get it almost every time I go to Youtube. So, the problem is: whenever I start playing a video on youtube, it stops after a few seconds. After this happens I cannot connect to any website except the ones I opened maybe a few seconds ago and Facebook. I get the message: DNS_probe_no_internet. This happens in Google Chrome but also in IE. But at the same time the internet work perfectly on my phone, connected to the same router. The internet start working and the video starts playing after a minute or two. But when I watch a second or third video on YT, it happens again. I also had this problem on my last laptop almost a year ago, but not that much.

I've been trying to fix this problems in many ways:

  • Restarted and resseted and changed the router
  • Restarted the connection
  • Rebooted my laptop
  • Called my internet provider who says everything seems ok
  • Disabled the extensions
  • Disabled Flash Player
  • Throwing some random things around me (doesn't really fix the problem, but helps lowering the steam)
  • Tried using IE

I searched google for some answers but with nothing useful. I don't have AVG, I don't have any other Flash Player, vimeo works well, my drivers are up to date, I have enough memory, I have enough RAM, I have a good graphic card,...and I know my way around computers plus I had a programer take a look at the problem to.

I have an ASUS ROG laptop with WIndows 8.1 (with a licence).

I'm running out of ideas and it's really frustrating. I hope anyone can give me at least a hint on where to look at.

If you need any additional information I will gladly post the necessary intel.

Thank you,

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I tried to troubleshoot, also tried to run diagnostics on my connection and my adapter and it says there's no errors to be found. I found out that youtube is working normally within IE unless I run it first in Chrome. So I'm guessing the problem is somewhere within my Chrome and things connected to it. Yet, with everything I tried, I still wasn't able to find the source of this problem.

And I can say my computer is pretty much without any useless things on it as I really have only browsers, VLC, 4-5 games and Adobe programs. So nothing that could affect internet on Chrome while going on Youtube, since I've had this king of configurations for the past 7 years on every laptop I had, with the same internet provider and the same router.

Any other suggestions on where to look?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you are facing internet connection issues.

    I appreciate your troubleshooting steps.

First, Run the Network troubleshooter first and then test your Internet connection.

Open the Network troubleshooter by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering network troubleshooter in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Identify and repair network problems.

Open the Network Adapter troubleshooter by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering troubleshooting in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Troubleshooting. Tap or click Network and Internet, and then tap or click Network Adapter.

I suggest you to perform clean boot and check, using this Microsoft Article because may be a third party application is causing this issue.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

**NOTE:**A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot. You must log on to the computer as an administrator to be able to perform a clean boot. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality when you perform a clean boot. When you start the computer normally, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or experience the original behavior if the problem still exists. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps.

    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Once you perform clean boot do refer to the section “How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting” to boot the computer in normal mode.

Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other assistance with Windows in future. We will be happy to assist you.
