    Solution optimized for:

    >64-bit Windows 8 Operating System

    • Solution v1: From the Desktop -
    1. Look on the bottom, right-hand side of you screen (on your taskbar) for an icon that looks like a Stopwatch (it will usually be to the left of the date & time).  This is your FilterKeys notification icon.
    2. Double-click it and a window will open.
    3. Un-check the "Turn on Filter Keys" check-box
    4. At the bottom of the window, hit "Apply" and "OK"
    5. Done
    • Solution v2: Through Folder Paths -
    1. From the Start Menu, go to the Control Panel
    2. In the upper right-hand corner, change View By to "Large icons"
    3. Click on Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use > Set up Filter Keys
    4. Un-check the "Turn on Filter Keys" check-box
    5. At the bottom of the window, hit "Apply" and "OK"
    6. Done

*Exact folder names & directory paths may vary depending on your Operating System

if you had an idea about how to fix this then you should reply.  From the description we can conclude a great deal.  the cat didn't uninstall the driver for instance.  Also, the cat probably didn't edit the key registry.  We can reasonably certain the cat didn't write some batch file.  Some combination of keys accidentally pressed by the cat locked up the key board.  It's sticky keys or it's filter keys, period.  If you don't know the answer don't respond to the question.

Laptop keyboards usually have an option to disable the keyboard and trackpad, maybe your cat inadvertently pressed that key combination.

Check to see if sticky keys is turned on.

Try using a USB keyboard and see if that works.
