Myst games and Windows 10

Is there a "fix" so I can play the entire series of Myst games on Windows 10?  I appears that I was able to download them all, but being able to play them is an entirely different matter.  I'm crushed.  Please help.  Thanks.

    Download, or install from disk ?

    If you have downloaded and installed the game from a site such as Good old Games include more details about

    what is, or is not happening.  If you installed from disk read on....

    If you installed the games from disk there may be an issue with DRM Blocking.

    A malware developed by MS that prevents hundreds of disk based games from launching.

    This should only apply to later versions of Myst. Version 1 & 2, and possibly Riven, only use the old CD check

    type copy protection, but the newer versions use either SecuROM or SafeDisk copy protection,

    both of which are being blocked by MS. I have more details regarding DRM Blocking in my rant  ---here---

    • With Win10 the only way to circumvent DRM Blocking is to use a noCD fix/hack, or submit to MS's extortion

    and buy the game from an online 'dealer' . The complete series will set you back  $30- , possibly half that

    if you wait for one of GOG's frequent sales.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    The game which you are playing on previous operating system might run or play as expected since the game is old version. So, I suggest you try installing the game in compatibility mode and check. If you are unable to play the game you may contact Game manufacturer.

    1. Right-click on the setup file of the game and select Properties.
    2. Select Compatibility tab.
    3. Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.
    4. Let the game install and then check the functionality.

    There is an issue with it installing an older version of quicktime that crashes on Windows 10. A newer version might fix the problem if you have not already bought a version that does work.

    Thanks for your response, but still no luck.  I think I'll have to resort to downloading the series from gog.
