Try this link and install drivers for Windows 7:
Windows 7 driver for Lumia 950 XL
I bought a Lumia 950 XL the other day and I am trying to connect it to my work PC that runs Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
The PC detects the device correctly but it cannot find any drivers for it. I can see the device listed in Device Manager as Lumia 950 XL (RM-1085) under Other devices with an exclamation icon.
Uninstalling/removing the driver/device from device manager and re-connecting the phone to the PC does nothing. Windows searches for drivers for a couple of minutes then presents me with a message that no drivers can be found.
I checked Windows update on my PC and it seems I am running the latest updates.
I contacted Windows support but the don't seem to have an idea, they guy kept telling me that there might be a possibility that the device is not supported by Windows 7 which is shocking since Win7 is still the most used Windows version.
Can someone direct me to how or where I can find and install the correct driver for my device.

2015-12-16T13:58:12+00:00 Not sure if this is an issue with my PC. I had to install the driver manually by selecting Update Driver from device manager and selecting the MTP device driver and now the PC can detect the device and I am able to access files.

Excellent. I borrowed my son's laptop with Windows 7 installed. As identified in the start posting it identified the Lumia 950 XL yet drivers failed to install. Your link appears to have worked straight forwardly. Thank you!
