I have an issue with the device driver. Whenever I update it, it takes a lengthy amount of time to complete and it doesn't even fix the issue. Here is how it looks like:

I have a windows 7 64 bit PC, model: HP Pavilion G6.

I've tried Microsoft Fixit, Updating device drivers, Windows update, and none have helped fix the issue.

What do I do?

    Hello Anna,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the issue so that we could help you better.

What is the complete model number of your HP Pavilion G6 computer?

I appreciate you for providing details about the issue and your efforts towards resolving it.

This issue may occur due to missing or corrupt device drivers or settings.

The wireless Hosted Network is a new WLAN feature supported on Windows 7 and on Windows Server 2008 R2 with the Wireless LAN Service installed. This feature implements two major functions:

    • The virtualization of a physical wireless adapter into more than one virtual wireless adapter sometimes referred to as Virtual Wi-Fi.
    • A software-based wireless access point (AP) sometimes referred to as a SoftAP that uses a designated virtual

    wireless adapter.

These two functions coexist in a Windows system together. Enabling or disabling the wireless Hosted Network enables or disables both virtual Wi-Fi and SoftAP. It is not possible to enable or disable these two functions separately in Windows.

Please refer to suggestions from Mann_Manohar replied on December 17, 2013 and check.

Note: When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

    I hope this information helps.

Please do let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you

    Hello Anna,

    Thank you for the reply.

I am sorry for late response.

    I appreciate your patience.

You need to update the one which you already have.

However, it may include "Ralink 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter" and "Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver".

    Please keep us posted.

    Thank you

    Hi,

    Thank you for the support,

I updated the chipset and network drivers.

Can I ask, do I have to download all of the listed network drivers or just the one I already have installed?

    Thank you for the reply.

    Model number: g6 - 1371ea

Currently, I cannot download Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 as stated in the answer of the link you provided, because I don't have a blank CD nearby and do not really plan on getting one.

When I try to update my driver, it takes a long time to download/install and does nothing, even if the end result says that the driver is up-to-date.

The advice in the link didn't really help much either.
