Why are CCC Help Programs (languages) installed?

I noticed that I have a number of CCC language Help Programs recently installed....!

Example: CCC Help Greek, CCC Help Hungarian, CCC Help Italian, CCC Help Russian, etc, etc, etc,...

I did not install these Programs.

When I check for Windows updates I show that "33 optional updates are available" (all language files)

I choose not to install them simply because I only use one language "English".

Can I safely uninstall these programs?

Are they in some way intergrated with other applications that would not work if I uninstall them?

Any idea how they got installed in the first place?

How can I prevent them from getting installed in the future?

And lastley, is there a way to stop the available optional updates from continually appearing when I check for updates?

The CCC language Help Programs is a component of the Catalyst Graphics Adapter software configuration program for ATI graphic cards.

You should be able to remove by going to Control Panel, Programs and Features and selecting uninstall.

You can stop optional updates from appearing by using Hide Updates. Select any update that you want to hide, right-click it, and then click Hide update. Do this for each update you want to hide.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

Unfortunatley attempting to uninstall thru the control panel did not work.

There is no individual CCC Help programs shown, the list of programs diplayed in the control panel shows nothing that is a CCC Help program.

I can only see these individule  CCC Help language programs when I open up the "REVO Uninstaller Program".   There are 22 of these CCC Help Programs all are different languages.  When I Click on the file location they are definately associated with ATI...which is odd because when I click on the "Open About link" it takes me to the AMD web site...?

I have no way of knowing if these CCC programs are necessary or if they are running in the background using CPU resources...?

Where did you navigate to on your C drive to delete the files? I navigated to C:\AMD\WU-CCC2\ccc2_install\Help (just searched the C: for "CCC" and opened the file location for first file that had "help" in the name: ccc-help-tr). In that help folder are all of the installers for each language. If you navigated to the same location and deleted the folder, it did you no good, as all of the programs are already installed. However, if you open each of the installers you'll see that there is a remove option.

The only way I could get them off of my machine was to run each of the uninstallers (I kept English just in case) and select the remove option. I then deleted the install folders from "Help" so that the programs could not reinstall themselves (not sure if they do auto-install, but thought it was a good idea to not give them the ability to).

When I perform a "software inventory" on my work computer, they show up (CCC Help Programs - languages).  When I go to my Control Panel, Programs and features, they are not there to uninstall.

I have gone to the C drive and deleted the folder, but of course, that doesn't help.    Any more suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Deb

What you want to do is find the directory where they are located.  Delete everyone of the foreign languages and just leave the U.S., then start from there, its a waiste of space for resources you will never use.
