Original Title: Cant change password

I gave a friend my laptop and so before doing that i changed my password to something else because i didnt want to share my actual password. when i got back my laptop, i have tried to change the password several times back to my initial password but couldn't.

The message on the screen shows: "configuration information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied"

Does anyone know what i can do to solve this problem?

    Hi Elizabeth,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I will surely help you.

To understand the issue better, I would need more information from your end.

    1. Are you using a Microsoft Account or Local Account?
    2. Is the computer connected to domain network?

If you are using a Microsoft Account, I suggest you reset Microsoft Account password and check if it helps.
