Which architecture of Windows 7 are you running? 32-bit or 64-bit?
You have found what you supposedly need.
You'll want to know that when you visit the site that tells you the printer is compatible with a free download from Canon and then you go to Canon's site and choose "Windows 7" or "Windows 7 (x64)" from the drop-down.
Now - there is a note above where you download the proper add-on...
"This software is a module that expands the functionality of the printer driver for Canon Inkjet printers. Your printer must be installed via Microsoft Update before you download and use this module. By installing this software, you can use the printer driver
to set up compensation and processing functions for image data such as photographs."
So that means you were supposed to install the printer using Windows 7 to look for it and when choosing the correct driver from the list - select "Windows Update" to install more drivers and then you should be able to install the original driver Canon gave
to Microsoft after it downloads from Windows Updates. AFTER that you install the addon.
- Open Devices and Printers by clicking the
Start button
,
and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
- Click Add a printer.
- In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a local printer.
- On the Choose a printer port page, make sure that the
Use an existing port button and the recommended printer port are selected, and then click
Next.
- On the Install the printer driver page, select the printer manufacturer and model, and then click
Next.
- If your printer isn't listed, click Windows Update, and then wait while
Windows checks for additional drivers.
- If none are available and you have the installation CD, click
Have Disk, and then browse to the folder where the printer driver is located. (For additional help, consult the printer manual.)
- Complete the additional steps in the wizard, and then click
Finish.
