What is AMD SMBus in windows update? 30 kb

What is it for?

Do I need this?

Is it safe?

Shouldn't I down load this from AMD rather than from windows update?

    Hi rcavictor :)

The AMD SMBus driver is the System Management Bus driver from AMD.

Chances are that you already have the driver installed on your system, and this is just an upgrade for it. It's totally safe to install if it comes from the Windows Updates. You can install it if you wish. Personally, I never install drivers from Windows Updates since they are known to have issues sometimes. If I ever need to install a driver, I install it directly from the device's manufacturer website, or my computer/laptop manufacturer's website, for my specific model.

In the end, the choice is yours :) If it's only 30kb, installing it wouldn't hurt too.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Yoan

Problem with this update is that it is surfacing on my Win 7 PC every 10 - 15 days. Each time Win 7 successfully installs it and in 10 -15 days - a new notification. Why?

I did, and so should you. Do your own research and don't trust an answer "If it's only 30kb, installing it wouldn't hurt too." It all depends what hardware you have and what driver you are updating. Start your research here http://support.amd.com/en-us

    Cheers!

If you would've done "more research" to "get a real answer", why didn't you do it before answering here?
