Does the behavior persist if your download/run the Norton Removal Tool (and reboot) [1] and then the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool [2] and reboot again?

You ask for help here but hardly provide any information. How shall anybody know about what you are talking?

    Which notifications? Defender notifications?

If so, I suggest to carefully read: Configure Windows Defender in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10

and provide more exact and detailed information what you see in History tab.

With that little information it's hard to say.

Why do you ask? Where do you see it?

You can upload the file to VirusTotal and/or other scanners, see: List of Online File analyzers & services

FWIW: Just meant as an info, don't click and download the remover tool on this site:

If you think you're infected with some malware, run some scans with

    AdwCleaner
