Hello, I forgot my old dell laptop login password, it's Windows 8 system, I can't recall the password at all, and have no pre-created password reset disk, this is local account not MS account.  PLEASE HELP!  I don't wanna reinstall my system because there're some important files on it.

You can not make a password reset disk AFTER you forget your Password.

That has to be done before you forget your Password.

    Hi,

"What to do if you forget your Windows 8/8.1 password"

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-do-forget-windows-password#1TC=windows-8

If you've forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to retrieve or reset it:

    • If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.
    • If you're using a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more info, go to the Reset your password webpage.
    • If you're using a local account, use your password hint as a reminder.

If you've tried these suggestions and still can't sign in:

    • If you have Windows 8.1,you'll need to reinstall Windows.
    • If you have Windows RT 8.1, you'll need to contact your PC manufacturer.

You have to create a Password Reset disk BEFORE you forget your Password, not afterwards.

There is one correction for Bill answer. If you used the password on a local account, then you can easily make a windows reset disk and use it to reset windows 8 password to blank. The best part of this method is that there is no data loss. However, if you chose to reinstall the os, then all the data on system disk will be gone.

thanks,  it says there are two ways to create a reset disk: USB and DVD, I have a Kingston flash drive with 4 GB, can I use it to create reset disk?
