Windows 7 and Security Essentials Updates not working

Anonymous
2016-06-21T17:31:27+00:00

I am Windows 7, home premium.  My desktop Outlook and internet access are working fine.

The last successful Windows update was for 6/17/16 or KB2310138 (Definition 1.223.1849.0).  Since then I started one Windows update on 6/20/16 and was still running on 6/21/16 (so canceled).  In Security Essentials, when updating, I get a connection failed after 20 minutes.

Any suggestions?  Thanks

    Hi PA Bear,

Thanks for asking.  No, this is an HP Pavilion.  New today is an old problem using Outlook (keeps asking me for a password but doesn't retain it)

No, this is an HP Pavilion.

    Assuming Win7 64-bit with Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) installed...
