Hello,
The hard disk drive (HDD) is the main, and usually largest, data storage hardware device in a computer.
The operating system, software titles and most other files are stored in the hard disk drive.
The Hard Disk Drive is Also Known As HDD (abbreviation), hard drive, hard disk, fixed drive, fixed disk, fixed disk drive. The hard drive is sometimes referred to as the "C drive" due to the fact that Microsoft Windows designates the "C" drive letter to the primary partition on the primary hard drive in a computer by default.
Short for Solid-State Drive or Solid-State Disk, SSD is a drive that uses non-volatile memory as a means of storing and accessing data, much like computer RAM. Unlike a hard drive, an SSD has no moving parts, which gives it advantages such as accessing stored information faster, no noise, often more reliable, and consuming less power. The picture shows a Crucial SSD and is an example of an SSD.
To identify if your Drive is HDD or SSD, follow the below steps:
- In the search window, type defragment and optimize drive and select it.
- In the new opened Windows it will display all the drives you have on your system and next to it, it will show whether its an HDD or SSD.
Hope it helps. We will be happy to assist you further.
Thank you.
