    Hi Bradley,

Thank you for posting your query in the Microsoft Community.

You have an issue with playing a game on Windows 7. It can be difficult when something that is important to you does not work as expected. It is pretty simple and we are here to help you fix the issue. We will work as a team and get this sorted out.

    Please answer these questions-

    1)   Have you ever been able to play the game on the computer?

    2)   Did you try running the game from the original file location and not the desktop icon?

    3)   Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

I would like more information regarding the issue.

    Method 1-

I would have you navigate to the default location of the game and try to run the .exe file from there. Check if it works.

    Method 2-

I would recommend you to perform a Clean Boot.

Placing the computer in a Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to perform the steps from the article-

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: You need to follow Step 3 from the article to get the computer back to Normal Startup after performing all the troubleshooting steps.

Now, try to play the game.

    Method 3-

I would have you check for the latest updates and patches for the game from manufacturer’s website.

If the issue persists, I would have you contact the manufacturer for further assistance.

I had the same problem! I looked up a couple things online, and I found nothing that helped. Eventually I just deleted the game's data and restarted everything. To fix it, go into your start menu (computer search bar) and type in "euro". It will show you some files on your computer. There should be a folder called "Euro Truck Simulator 2". Just delete that folder, relaunch the game, and it should be fixed. And just to be extra safe, select a different hometown than last time you played when you start a new game. If this worked, please let me know!

Hello, thank you for the fast response.

These are the answers to your questions:

1.) No, I was able to install it perfectly, when when it came to running the game for the first time, I get the error message.

2.) Yes, I've located the .exe launcher in program files but it follows the same error.

3.) No, I hadn't made any changes to my computer prior to this, but I have since installed a different game which works fine. This led me to suggest the game demo may be faulty, so I downloaded it from a different location and installed it but still the same error occurred.

I've just performed a clean boot but the same error persists.

Thank you for the link, I have downloaded the latest update/patch for the game but this, unfortunately, has not solved the problem :-(

I have just sent an email to their support team mentioning all the above.

Thanks a lot for your help thus far :-)
