Hi there,

I've purchased and installed 5.25" Media Dashboard Front Panel for Win 7 64 bit.

Everything works fine but after I safely remove an SD card I have a triangular with an exclamation mark in Device Manager for USB Mass Storage. The SD card is not recognized after that. To use it again I have to restart Windows. I aske dthe seller to send me a driver but he does not respond. What shall I do?

If remove the card without safe removal the card is identified OK but I don't want to take a constant risk.

"The OP's card reader shouldn't need a driver and is probably defective."

I read the feedbacks of  Media Dashboard Front panel users at Amazon.com and some of them describe the same problem. The brand names are all different, thus, it can't be the problem of the hardware. It's obviously a driver problem.

Do not select "safely remove" rather, right click on the SD card and select "eject".

Safely remove, removes the Card reader hardware and requires a reboot to be seen again.

    b) Control Panel will open up, now click on “Troubleshooting”.

    c) In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.

    d) Click on “Hardware and Device”.

    e) Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.

Do not select "safely remove" rather, right click on the SD card and select "eject".

Safely remove, removes the Card reader hardware and requires a reboot to be seen again.

I just inserted an SD card into the front-panel card reader in my PC, transferred files to it, then used the "safely remove" option and removed the card.  I then reinserted it and it was immediately recognized.  I did the same thing with a USB flash drive (the card reader has a USB port) with the same results.   "Safely remove" doesn't  "remove" the card reader.    The OP's card reader shouldn't need a driver and is probably defective.

    Hello Neha,

Method 1 did not work out. At the end it reads

"Hardware changes might not have been detected.

USB mass storage device is not working properly."

I can't find where to uncheck All important updates for Method 2. Where is it? Shall I install all the updates?

For Method 3 I've updated all the drivers from my GigaByte motherboard but I can't find the drivers for the Media Dashboard Front Panel as it is a no-name brand and the seller can't provide me with the drivers for the device saying Windows is able to find the drivers automatically.

By the way I can do the Safe removal with the 3-d party program "USB Safely Remove" but I would not like to use it.

    Sincerely,

    Alexander
