Color Emoji/Font Support on Windows 7.

This is a question that I have to asked after doing some research around the web.

I noticed a lack of information on installing and using color fonts and emoji

on Windows 7. Only being able to use monochromatic fonts and emoji, I had to ask this question to y'all.

Is it possible to bring color font/color emoji support to Windows 7?

I've tried to install Google's Noto Fonts and was able to install all

but one of their fonts, their "NotoColorEmoji" ttf font. (Which after some

searching, found the reason it not installing is because google uses a different

format then usual.)

I'm just need to ask this as it's been bothering me not having a way to use this.

If there is there is a possible way to get color fonts/emoji support on Windows 7, I would

most certainly like to know!

That is all I want to ask.

Thanks for reading thus far and taking the time to answer my question.

I understand if there is no support atm or such support may come in the future.

    Hi,

As per the issue description you are willing to use emoji on Windows 7. Microsoft added monochrome Unicode emoji coverage to the Segoe UI Symbol system font in Windows 8 and added color emoji in Windows 8.1 via the Segoe UI Emoji font.

I would suggest you to install the update provided in the article mentioned below and see if it helps you to use emoji on Windows 7. This article introduces an update to the Segoe UI symbol font in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2. This update adds support for emoji characters and some control glyphs that are included in Windows 8 and in Windows Server 2012.

An update for the Segoe UI symbol font in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2 is available

Hope the information provided is helpful. Do let us know if you have any more concern related to Windows. We will be more than happy to assist you.

    Regards,

This doesn't work... the link you provided in your reply on July 2 2016, it's now 6 months later and the link does take us to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2729094 and gives 4 options to click on for the An update for the "Segoe UI symbol font in Windows 7"update but after clicking on the "Download The Update Package Now", it then says "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. I agree. M$ need to upgrade their own emojis. Their current emojis are very low and not modern.
