My games will ALT+TAB out on their own. Sometimes it might be within 15 minutes of starting the game or it could be an hour or so before it does it.

    Hello Dean,

Thank you for getting back with an update.

    1. What do you mean by the statement "half my apps won't work "?
    2. Are you getting any error message?

You can follow below mentioned steps to convert the exiting account to local account and the new account to Microsoft account.

    1. On the problematic User Profile, go to Start > Settings/>Accounts/>Your Account and click Sign in with local account Instead. Follow the steps to switch your account to local account.
    2. Now logoff from the existing User Profile. When you're on the login screen, on the left bottom corner you can see the account which we have created. Now login with that account and try to convert that account as Microsoft account by navigating to Start/> Settings/>Accounts/>Your Account/> Sign with Microsoft account Instead. Use Microsoft account credentials to make it Microsoft account. Check if everything works fine.

Let us know how it went.

Went back and redid it, for some reason it never actually went to a new account. It was still running on the old one. Tried a new one again and the game ran 2 hours without a problem.  Will I still be able to use my Microsoft account on the new one or do I need to make a new one. Thanks for all your help so far!

    Hello Dean,

Thank you for getting back with an update.

Sometimes problem with the User Profile causes this kind of behavior. Suggest you to try setting up another User Profile to see if it makes any difference. You can follow below mentioned steps to create another User Profile.

    1. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Accounts > Your account.
    2. Select Family & other users (or Other users, if you’re using Windows 10 Enterprise).
    3. Under Other users, select Add someone else to this PC.
    4. At the bottom of the page, select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
    5. At the bottom of the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    6. Enter a name for the new account. If you want this person to sign in with a password, enter and verify the password, add a password hint, then select Next.
    7. Select Finish. Close all windows.
    8. Go to Start > Settings/>Accounts/>Your Account and click Sign in with local account Instead. Follow the steps to switch your account to local account.

Still had the problem after a clean boot. First clean boot the game ran for 3 hours so i started turning on services and the problem came back. I eliminated each one but still had the problem even after eliminating all of them. Did a normal boot and let the computer normalize until today. Did another clean boot and still have the problem before I turned any services or startup items on.

    Hello Dean,

We understand your concern in this regard.

I suspect some software conflicts causing this behavior. Check this issue by keeping your computer in Clean Boot state. A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program. Follow the below mentioned steps to perform Clean Boot:

    a. Press Windows Key, type msconfig in the search box, and hit Enter.

    b. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.

    c. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.

    d. On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.

    e. Close Task Manager.

    f. On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.

If a service is causing issue, I suggest you turn on 5 services at a time, reboot and then see if the problem reappears, keep repeating this until you find a group of 5 services, which are causing this issue, then check the one by one, till you find the one which is causing your issue. Perform the same divide and apply for Startup's too.

Refer the below article on "How to Perform Clean Boot". As the article is designed for Windows 8.1, Windows 8 and Windows 7. Unlike launching step for 'System Configuration', options and steps to Clean Boot are same for Windows 10.

Note: After you finish troubleshooting, refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" from the same article.

Keep us posted how it went.
