Uninstall a program - McAfee - not working

Hi All,

I'm trying to UNinstall McAfee and it's not happening.  I must have installed a trial about 2 months ago and I have no intentions of buying it and now can't get rid of it. I wouldn't care I guess except for the fact that the pop-ups keep appearing for either purchase, telling me scan now, etc. I have a free anti-virus now. I went into control panel, selected the program (McAfee), and then selected UNINSTALL. This was weeks ago. I checked on it again because the pop-ups keep popping up. I just keep on getting the message to "please wait until the current program is finished uninstalling or changing" before I choose another action but it's taking weeks so obviously something else in going on. Can anyone help me and tell me how to get rid of this pest?? Please?!

    Hi,

At present you do not have the latest Anti-virus protection as McAfee trial has probably expired and you are in all probability infected with Malware.

You need to remove McAfee completely and get Windows Defender started again as 3rd party AVs disable Windows Defender (which is an Anti-virus) by default and do a thorough scan of your machine for Malware.

    Use the McAfee Removal Tool.

    How to restart Defender:

    https://www.winhelp.us/configure-windows-defender-in-windows-8.html

If you've previously uninstalled a third-party antivirus product (avast!, AVG, Norton/Symantec, McAfee or some other product), you might see a dialog that states that Windows Defender is turned off. In that case, either click Action Center's white flag icon in Taskbar Notification Area (aka System Tray) and clickTurn on virus protection (Important) or Turn on spyware protection (Important), or open Control Panel (Windows Key+X has a nice shortcut), type action into Search field, clickAction Center and then click one of the Turn on now buttons in Security section.

Please note that Action Center might have no red warning icon for several days after you've removed a third-party virus protection tool.

    Scan for Malware:

Download, install, update and scan your System with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware and if necessary do this in Safe Mode with Networking:

This is a very good Program to scan your System to remove Adware, etc:
