I have installed some software on my laptop but I can't open it. I get an error message saying:

Exception EReadError in module CVK VibView 2_0 beta 088.exe at 00013FB7

Error reading ComComboBox1.ComProperty: Registry error (win error code: 2)

I have installed software on my pc with windows 7 and didn't have any problems.

Any ideas?

Hi Safetymen,

-      Which is the software in question?

-      Is the software  compatible with Windows 7?

I’d suggest you to completely uninstall the software from your computer and reinstall the same using administrative permissions and see if that fixes the issue.

Also see Uninstalling programs: frequently asked questions

To install the program in administrator mode, follow these steps:

a. Locate the program icon, right-click and select as “Run as administrator”.

b. When the User Account Control (UAC) message is displayed, do one of the following:

-      If you are logged on as a standard user, or if UAC is configured to always require credentials, enter the appropriate administrative credentials, and then click OK.

-      If you are logged on as an administrator and UAC is not configured to always require credentials, click “Yes” to start the application.

This is a common serial Comm port library's less than helpful error message, which is simply stating that it failed to connect to the specified serial comm port. Check your comm port settings in the software program's configuration, ensure your device is connected, and try again. If the problem persist, the software may be poorly made, need reinstalled, or have more configuration settings that need adjusted. Consult your software's documentation or support services.
