Restore Nokia Lumia 635 to factory settings

I have tried to reset to factory settings as instructions given to me but I find that instead of an exclamation mark I have a settings sign together with a sign that looks like lightening and a small settings sign.

Also, I was instructed to go into settings and then "about" but there is no "about" go into.

I really need to restore factory settings and would appreciate any further help.

Many thanks

    Hello Gloria,

To be able to restore factory settings, you can follow the steps given below:

    1. Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration.
    2. When you feel the vibration, release the buttons, and then immediately press and hold the Volume down button until you see a large exclamation mark.
    3. Once the exclamation mark appears, press the following four buttons in this order: Volume up, Volume down, Power, Volume down. Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the reset to finish.)

Note that resetting phone will erase all content stored on your phone so makes sure that you backup your stuff.

Let us know how it goes.

This symbol means that the phone is in a flashing state. To help you resolve this, please perform a soft reset. Press and hold Volume down + Power button until the phone vibrates and restarts (about 10 to 15 seconds), then release the buttons. Your device will restart automatically.

After this, you can manually reset your device.

    Update us on the result.

    Thank you for your reply.

As I have stated in my query, I do not get an exclamation mark when carrying out the above instructions.  I get a settings sign with what looks similar to a lightening symbol.

My phone is useless unless I can restore to factory settings and it is less than a year old.
