Hi Andrew,
Thank you so much for posting your query on this forum. I will try my best to assist you with this issue.
From the given description, I understand that you are trying to connect your NextBook 8 (Model No: NX785QC8G) device with your Windows 7 laptop and you are trying to find out the correct drivers for the device to get it working with your laptop.
For a better understanding of this issue, I would like to ask few questions:
- What exactly happens when you connect the NextBook 8 device to the Windows 7 laptop with a USB cable? Does the Windows Hardware installation window comes up on the screen?
- Does Windows 7 automatically detects and installs the drivers for this device?
- What is the status of the device shown in the Device Manager after connecting it with the computer? Does it show a yellow triangle on it?
To check the status of the device in Device Manager, you may follow these steps:
a) Press “Windows Logo” + “R” keys on the keyboard and type “devmgmt.msc” in the “Run” Command box and press “Enter”.
b) Search for the USB device that you are having issues with, right click on it and select “Properties”.
c) Click on the “General” tab, and then look in the “Device status” box to see if it mentions any problems with the device or its driver.
I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if that resolves the issue. Let us first run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter and check if that provides any useful information regarding this issue.
Method 1: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter
To run the “Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter”, please refer to the article: “Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter” given below and follow the instructions in it.

If the device has a yellow mark on it, then you may try the next method.
Method 2: Uninstall the Device and let Windows Detect and Install the Drivers Automatically
Step 1: Uninstall the Device Drivers
a) Disconnect the device from the computer.
b) Press “Windows Logo” + “R” keys on the keyboard and type “devmgmt.msc” in the “Run” Command box and press “Enter”.
c) In the Device Manager window, search for the NextBook 8 device from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.
d) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.
If the issue still persists, then I would suggest you to update the firmware for the device from the manufacturer’s website.
Method 3: Update the Firmware for the Device
It seems like there is a new Firmware update available for this device on its manufacturer’s website. I would suggest you to contact NextBook Technical Support to install this update and check if you are able to connect the device to the computer. You may search for the Firmware update from this link:
Note: Scroll down to the “Updates” section on that page and then select “Firmware downloads” from that drop down menu. This will show you the Firmware Update for the Nextbook 8 device.
Important: The process of updating the Firmware is highly risky as there are chances for data loss and some other issues with the device. So, contact the NextBook Technical Support and get the help from them before you attempt to perform this action. Also, take the backup of all your important data on your NextBook 8 device.
Hope this resolves the issue.
