ION Slides2PC scanner

I have a slide scanner IO Slides2PC. After installation of the software and the drive (64-bit) the program says that there is no scanner. However if I connect the USB cable I hear the "pling" sound. The red light on the scanner light up. But on the software the choice for 35 mm scanner is greyed out. I have a Windows 7 (64-bit) PC. The installation software gives me the choice between 32 or 64 bit. Of course I installed the 64-bit. What can be wrong?

You did right to select 64-Bit, but there are only XP & Vista drivers on the Ion website so I suggest you have a look at:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

    Your basic steps are:

    1. Uninstall any existing software for your scanner.
    2. Disconnct your scanner from your PC.
    3. Install Vista 64-Bit drivers & other software following advice in above link.
    4. Reconnect your scanner.

The Ion website specifically says not to use an unpowered USB hub, so it must draw a fair amount of current for a USB device. Bear this in mind. Try disconnecting other non-essential USB devices.

Indeed the Veho VFS-004 drivers in combination with Photo Impression 6 software available at

    http://www.veho-world.com/main/downloads.aspx

even worked for me with Windows 10

Look down under Drivers and Software ... Scanners and Photo ... VFS-004 Slide and Negative Scanner

I had the same trouble with Win7 64 bit, but noticed that the Ion scanner is obviously a badge engineered Veho, which is advertised as running in Win7 64bit.... so I downloaded the Veho 64 bit driver, manually removed the Ion driver and installed the Veho one.  Everything now works fine, and I no longer have to go to  Virtual XP mode to use the scanner.  As a bonus, I found that the scanner is seen as a Twain device, so can be used with other photo software
