Error unknown file system grub rescue after installing Windows 8.1

Hello

I had Windows 10 installed on my msi laptop and I decided to download windows 8.1 and install it. I had an Ubuntu system called Kali Linux on my laptop dual booting but I thought I cleared its partition long ago. When I installed Windows 8.1 after choosing the partition that has my 10 OS my pc restarted and gives me the error

error: unknown filesystem

Entering rescue mode...

grub rescue>

i have a usb stick with the windows and I've tried repair and inputting commands in the command prompt for Windows "fixboot" and "fixmbr" but although it says successful it still boots into the error. Should I also note that I for some reason see "Kali" as a boot option and i now have 3 Windows 8.1 installed on volumes 4, 4 and 6.

If I could be directed the right way to fix this I'd appreciate it. Thanks

    Hi Sergei,

To address your concern, you can perform a clean boot to isolate the issue. You can follow the steps on this link. Just enable the programs one by one every time you restart your machine and uninstall the one that causes the prompt.

Let us know how it goes.

    Best regards,
