Looking at my start up programs, found this one. Can anyone tell me what it is or how to find a reliable place to determine what programs like this are & do? Is it essential to start up?

Possibly related to Alco Micro Icon Utility software, and a card reader, examine the properties of its exe file for clues

Preinstalled on many laptops, this file is part the IconUtility software developed by AlcorMicro Co., Ltd. added by the software for various card readers. Its function is to display the appropriate icon when a card is inserted.

It's not a necessary file so just snap your fingers in a capital Z formation, nod your head side to side while saying, "uh-uh, oh hello no, not in this house lord, not in here!" Then kick it's .exe to the curb.

I have the same question and would like to have a reply if anyone knows anything about it.  I posted a bit more information hoping it might be useful for others as well.

I have been having problems accessing websites (doesn't seem to matter the site...it is random, sometimes I can access and sometimes I can't..) and today my virus software identified this file as wanting to "inject code C:\Windows\explorer.exe" and asked me if I wanted to block this file...AmIcoSingLun64.exe...one time or always.  I tried to look up information about the file and found it can be valid or malicious.  Since I've been having issues for the past 6-8 weeks I believe this attempt is malicious.  The message "Wants to inject code C:\Windows\explorer.exe" also made me suspicious.
