My galaxy s5 bluetooth pairs with my laptop, but can't connect for transfer or media

Is anyone else having this issue??  It worked fine with my previous laptop...but on this new HP Pavillion touchscreen x360, it doesn't seem to work anymore.  I can get them to pair (computer sends a code and I confirm) but I don't have options for file transfers or media.  Even if I try, the files don't send.  I've tried reinstalling the drivers as well as trying other drivers....but to no avail.  I have a bluetooth headset that connects fine on each device seperately...so I know the bluetooth CAN work.  Am I missing something?

I have exactly the same problem.  I have tried everything, I gave up and just connected via USB.  That's not what I wanted to accomplish though!

Thank you for responding.  I honestly got a little tired of trying to solve the problem for awhile but i figured it's time to give it another go.

As far as the chipset drivers, I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for my specific laptop via the website.  That didn't work.  I tried to other recommended drivers, but to no avail.

My laptop is an HP 13-a010dx

There isn't any error codes that pop up.  Here's what happens, from the start:

I turn bluetooth on for both my phone and laptop, making sure they're both visible to all devices.  Next, click "pair device" on my laptop (i've also tried pairing from my phone).  I get a code sent to my phone from my laptop, and click ok to confirm.

That's as far as I can get.  For a few seconds, it shows connected in the status on my pc, but then goes back to paired.  Both devices show paired but won't connect.  I can't send or receive any files.  The bluetooth on each device works fine with other devices...just not each other.

Yes.  I did everything above..  So I guess I'll have to contact Samsung?

I tried connecting again before responding back and this time was able to transfer files from my PC to my phone...but not the other way around.  I wonder what could be so different between this laptop and the Gateway nv570p25u that I had before.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand how frustrating it could be when things do not work as expected. I will certainly help you with this issue.

There could be several reasons for causing this issue. Like incorrect Bluetooth settings, driver corruption, or incorrect phone settings (Galaxy S5). Let’s try to identify the actual cause and troubleshoot accordingly.

However, before we proceed I would require some more information to assist you better.

    1. Have you installed the latest chipset driver or Bluetooth driver from the manufacturer website?
    2. Do you get any error code or error message? If yes, what is the exact error message you receive?
    3. What is the model number of the laptop?

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if it works for you.

    1. Press Windows + X keys and click on Control Panel.
    2. In the Control Panel search box, type Bluetooth, and then click Change Bluetooth settings.
    3. In the Bluetooth Settings dialog box, click the Options tab and do any of the following:

To make your computer discoverable to Bluetooth enabled devices, select the check box for Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer.

When a Bluetooth enabled computer is in discovery mode, it broadcasts a wireless signal that allows it to be detected by other computers or devices. This is sometimes called pairing mode. If you check this box, your computer will still be able to detect Bluetooth enabled devices that are in discovery mode, but they will not be able to detect your computer.

    • To allow you to add Bluetooth enabled devices to your computer, select the check box for Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer.
    • To be notified when a Bluetooth enabled device is trying to connect to your computer, select the check box for Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect.

Note: To help protect your computer, only make your computer discoverable when you want a Bluetooth enabled device to find your computer.

If the above steps provided did not help, then it would be better to contact Samsung for any settings change in phone settings.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues, we’ll be glad to assist you.

    Thank you
