minesweeper on windows 7 pro?

Hi Friends,

I've just gotten a new computer with Windows 7 Pro.  My last computer was running Windows 7 Home, and it had several games preinstalled, such as Minesweeper and Solitaire.  I can't seem to find them on Pro.  Start > Programs > Games is empty.

I've run a search, and I did find Minesweeper.  But it won't run, no matter how many times I click or double-click, or right-click > Open.

Will I be able to play these on my new computer?  If so, where can I find versions that work?

Thank you very much  :-)

You have to install games from Programs and Features which you can find in Control Panel, Programs and Features.

A shortcut to the Control Panel Programs and Features (aka Add/Remove Programs) is to click the Start button/orb and in the box enter:

    appwiz.cpl

Then choose to Turn Windows features on or off (and wait for the window to populate).

Put a check mark in Games, then click OK:

After a bit your Games Explorer should look like this:

You can also drag/drop your own other games into that folder.

    Oh, thank you very much!

I did hear that Minesweeper wasn't going to be available in Windows 10, so this is one little reason I'm glad I didn't upgrade.  I just couldn't figure out where to make it work.

    Thanks again.
