Actually, it's not "xp". These are Greek letters, "Chi" and "Rho" who stand for "c" ad "r", the first two letters of the name of Christ. In 312, when emperor Constantin was marching with his army, he looked up to the sun and saw a cross of light above it, and with it the Greek words "en touta nika" ("in this, win"), a phrase often rendered into Latin as "in hoc signo vinces" ("in this sign, you will win"). He then decided that the military standards used in his later wars should show the Chi-Rho sign. The Windows XP logo it's a big cross with the word "Windows" that sounds like "win does", that is "[this sign] will do the victory", and the Chi-Rho sign, a clear reference to Constantine and the symbols of the Roman Catholic Church (Bill Gates says he's atheis but his wife Melinda is catholic). They don't want the people know because they are afraid of the reaction of the muslim world.

There is just one meaning, not five. It's short for eXPerience.
