I have been trying to download updates for Windows 7 for a few weeks.  I get no error message.  The computer just keeps "searching" for updates.  It has been six weeks since I have been able to update.  I have read various post about update problems but nothing has helped me.  Please help as I am now having lots of problems when I turn on my computer.  Thanks.

Thanks so much, Gerry.  These steps were the only ones I could find that actually helped me.  I have now successfully downloaded new Windows Updates after five weeks and I have saved this information!
