Microsoft Windows 8 refresh has killed my ATIV TAB 3 tablet from Samsung

I did nothing but refreshed my PC (without affecting all the files) using the option under General. I did this to update all the windows items, before switching to 8.1

The refresh went ok. But after the updates got installed right after refresh, the PC never started back again. It only gives a error (at times) that "security version mismatch detected" I really dont understand what is going behind the scenes, but it is definitely POOR OPERATING SYSTEM coding that had killed my tablet which was working perfect. I will never ever recommend windows for this reason.

I tried all samsung measures to recover - power button + windows key (nothing shows up_, power button + volume up button (nothing works)...... totally killed by refresh / update.

Pressing the Power button with the left hand volume button should bring you to the BIOS menu

Shawn - See if you can help me. Samsung did not attempt to help me as I am out of US though the product is under international warranty.

I just couldn't get to the BIOS - it appears to be a fairly simple reset, but no methods let me get to BIOS to disable the secure boot. This is a tablet PC, that has a micro USB, and a bluetooth keyboard. the micro USB doesn't get the power to support a USB keyboard. I tried powering the keyboard externally and connecting the same with the tablet - but again, i couldn't. The tablet doesn't seem to "listen" any of the keystrokes.

Their website manuals talk about pressing the windows button while booting process - but nothing changes here as well. The product doesn't just get to the BIOS. I know that the motherboard and everything works, but just that some internal bios lock is preventing

    • this is because if i connect the charger, after a minute or so, the battery display shows up.

Will reimaging the hdd help? for this i think the tablet has to be opened, and the hdd has to be removed. I do not have a samsung version of windows.

Also, this is based on a Clovertrail process Z2760. Can the micro USB port be used to connect a different PC (which I tried), but the device manager shows "Cloverview" under "Other devices" and not installed any drivers. I have a 64 bit PC, and the Win 8 that came with the tablet was 32 bit, and I assume the processor doesn't support 64 bit PC accessing it?! Not sure here. However, when i connect the microUSB to a PC, there is "some" activity in the PC to see that it is a cloverview tablet, which means that the internal connections to the micro USB port are still working. Could be just a SW problem that Microsoft introduced?

Any help here will be much appreciated!! it is like having an expensive brick with me, for now!

Thank you very much for your reply. This is a samsung ATIV TAB 3 - XE300TZC-K01US

I tried to get to BIOS - using Samsung suggested approach: Power Key + Windows Button, but it wouldn't do anything. I tried several permutations and combinations, including Volumen up+power etc.. Any help will be MUCH appreciated...

Samsung can tell you how to access your BIOS settings and change the security check to disabled.  If I knew the exact model number I'd even look it up for you but I'll let you contact Samsung.
