Hey, I wish you haven't throw it away. I finally solve this problem. My laptop is SVS151290X. First, you should down the driver "Sony® Wireless State Device" from official website (Only in WIN8 tab). Then you can try install it and reboot, if you still see "unknow device", what you need to do is updating driver manually. The driver path is "C:\Users\Benjamin\AppData\Local\Temp\GLFB973", the path is the installer package's unzip path(maybe not GLFB973, you need to confirm it youself). Then you problem will be solved!!!
Unkown Device Intel(R) HM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller - 1E57
This is showing up in my device manager. Windows cannot find a driver for it. I've tried disabling it but at reboot it just comes back. What is it? and How can I fix it? Thanks! This occurred after I installed Windows 8.

2012-11-27T05:19:00+00:00 Hi,
This chipset is for your USB, SATA and etc. Intel's website was being uncooperative when I looked for this specific driver. It may vary with the computer manufacturer.
I did find a link to a couple of Intel utilities that will check your system and update as necessary. Select Update Tools from the list, and try one of the top 2 on the list.
You could also check your computer manufacturers website for updated chipset drivers also.

2012-11-27T06:47:55+00:00 Thanks so much for your quick reply! I followed your recommendations however to no avail. Intel says to check with my manufacturer (Sony) and they too are no help. So I've written them and we will see what they say. Assuming they reply ;-)

2012-11-28T20:28:15+00:00 Well they did write back and said to reinstall drivers for Intell Chipset Driver, Intell Graphics driver, and Intell HD Graphics Driver 3000/4000 update. Which I did now but still problem persists. Next they (Sony) tells me:
If the issue still persists, I would suggest that you perform a system recovery and then upgarde the operating system to Windows 8 by following the guidelines provided by Sony. This should resolve the issue in the computer. I have provided a link below where you can view the information to boot to VAIO Recovery Partition after installing Windows 8 or Windows 8 Release Preview:
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C1030922
WARNING: There is a risk of data loss while performing the system recovery.
If the recovery partition is deleted, then it is required to restore the computer to factory condition using recovery discs. I have provided a link below where you can view the information to perform a system recovery using Recovery Discs:
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C1008109
If you have not created the recovery discs, then it is required to purchase them. I have provided a link below where you can view the information to order the recovery discs using the Sony Vaio DVD Recovery Request:
https://sonystyle.custhelp.com/ci/documents/detail/5/66
After performing the system recovery, I suggest that you follow the Upgrade Instructions to install the Windows 8 operating system. Click on the URL below to view the Upgrade Instructions for the Windows 8:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/support-info.pl?info_id=1194
NOTE: Please install all the drivers in an order as mentioned under the step 11.
