The default size of hiberfil.sys varies depending on the amount of RAM installed on your PC.
Hibernate mode uses the hiberfil.sys file to store the current state (memory) of the PC. You may disable the Hibernate mode by doing steps below:
- Click Start, and type cmd.
- Right-click cmd, and then click Run as administrator. If prompted for a password, or confirmation, type the password, or provide the confirmation.
- Type the command: powercfg -h off.
- Press Ente r.

Thank you David for your response concerning my hiberfil.sys file and your instructions on how to disable hibernate mode. This does not however enlighten me on the effect of disabling Hibernate mode on my laptop/PC...nor does it suggest that it is beneficial or actually determental to my PC and the processes in the future. I would really appreciate some in depth response to the consequenses of your suggestion to disable the hibernate mode on my pc. Thanks so much.
