and I have 3 sticks each 8gb ddr3 ram,

photo o RAM

there are 2 sticks manufactured o HYNIX and one SAMSUNG,

but one stick HYNIX is pc3l (low voltage) another one is pc3

SAMSUNG is pc3l

which pair you suggest me to use

both HYNIX, same manufactured but with different voltage

or different manufactured but with same voltage?

thanks for your help!

    Hi maly2zajac,

    PC3L and PC3:

    • PC3L uses around 1.35V and PC3 uses around 1.50V (0.15 difference)
    • The PC3 will increase a little power consumption and heat.

    Points to note:

    • It is suggested to use a same RAM Configuration as it is Pre-Installed on your system to avoid risk.
    • Their is no such difference except that of voltage.

It is better to have a second opinion: I suggest you to consult with your local hardware specialist to solve your doubt.

    Hi Bill,

can you first read question accurately, and then write the answer?

the question was not about max of ram, but about pc3 and pc3l types o ram working together!

I did read it and that is why I advised you to follow these steps:

Or it may be easier for you to download the Crucial Scanner which will tell you what is the matching RAM for your Motherboard and the max. amount of RAM your Motherboard can accommodate.

    Hi,

You can't install any type of RAM you wish to and you are governed by the Motherboards maximum capacity for installing RAM.

In other words as an example, you may want to install 8GBS but your Motherboard's max. RAM capacity may be 4GBs, or it may be at the max now, etc.

Either go to your Computer/Laptop Manufacturer's website > Support/Downloads Section > look up the exact details there.

    Asus:

Or it may be easier for you to download the Crucial Scanner which will tell you what is the matching RAM for your Motherboard and the max. amount of RAM your Motherboard can accommodate.

And don't going mixing RAM speeds as if you do the overall RAM will work at the lower of the two speeds.

    Cheers.
